MECHANICAL PERFORMANCE OF CARBON - ARAMID FIBER-REINFORCED LAMINATED COMPOSITES UNDER IMPACT AND SHEAR LOADING

نویسندگان

چکیده

In this study, the drop weight impact response and interlaminar shear strength of hybrid carbon/aramid fiber-reinforced laminated composites with different stacking sequences were investigated. Seven laminates including two types sandwich-like interply hybrid, three non-hybrid named carbon aramid produced using vacuum-assisted resin transfer molding method. Drop short-beam tests applied to calculate low-velocity strength, respectively. It is observed that while outer layer structure carbon, can carry less load but absorb more energy. Pure pure cannot loads energy as much their versions can. Sandwich-like central showed best results when values compared. Also, has higher ILSS among structures because its center region consists layers.

Hierarchical optimization of laminated fiber reinforced composites

1. Abstract The aim of this work is to perform hierarchical optimization [1] in laminated composite structures, considering simultaneously macroscopic and microscopic levels in the design of the structure and its material. In the macroscopic level, the optimization algorithm cares with orientations and fiber volume fractions of unidirectionally reinforced composite material layers. In the micro...

Non-Destructive Testing Evaluation of Low Velocity Impact Damage in Carbon Fiber-Reinforced Laminated Composites

Fiber-reinforced laminated composite materials are widely used in aircraft, modern vehicles and light-weight structures. With their high elastic modulus, high strength, and capability of being tailored for a several applications, these materials offer definite advantages compared to more traditional structural materials. However, their behavior under impact is of concern since those events may ...

Study on Mechanical Properties and Constitutive Equation of Hybrid Fiber Reinforced Cementitious Composites Under Static Loading

Abstract: The Quasi-static mechanical properties of hybrid fiber (steel fiber and Polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) fiber) reinforced cementitious composites (HFRCC(SP)) were investigated by compressive and tensile experiments. The compressive strength, peak strain, elastic modulus and tensile strength are studied as compared with that of engineered cementitious composite (ECC). Study results indicate th...

Carbon Fiber Reinforced Bismaleimide Composites

Bismaleimide (BMI) resins are developed very rapidly due to the demands of the defense and aerospace industries. They are cross-linked polymers which process like epoxy resins but have an upper use temperature of 230°C, compared to the epoxy upper use temperature of 175°C. Also due to the available intrinsic properties of BMI resins such as higher thermal stability and lower toxicity than those...

Non-destructive Characterization of Ply Orientation and Ply Type of Carbon Fiber Reinforced Laminated Composites

As the fuel efficiency of vehicles is being increased over the next decade due to both consumer demand and regulations, several automobile manufacturers are incorporating fiber-reinforced composites into their product line due to their high strength to weight ratio. While the fiber-reinforced components are lighter than the traditional aluminum and steel components, the processing and repair of...
